NOW ON A SATURDAY!!
Featuring an interstate shearing contest and a live band. The Hamilton District Agricultural Show is a small country show, the promotion of agriculture is the main objective of the show society, as agriculture is recognised as a major contributor to the economy of the Central Highlands. It is a show suited for the whole family, a day when the city comes to the country.
Hamilton is situated an hour drive from Hobart through the Derwent Valley, Hamilton is a small town with lots of personality.
The show was formed following a meeting of Soldier Settler Farmers in the early 1950's. The first shows were held in the Spring but due to work commitments changed to Autumn, the show was not held the year of the 1967 Bushfires. The format has changed over the years but still places emphasis on wool, sheep and cattle, and now has "Temptations of the Derwent" offering tasting plates of local produce.
